Modernized Mid Century Modern Addition

Addition of Entertainment Room and Increased Laundry Room

Our clients came to us looking to remove their useless screened room and add a three season room in its place while enclosing the space between their home and their detached garage while adding more space to their laundry room to include storage and a mudroom shoe bench. It was long into the design process that they decided by making the space a four season room, it added square footage and equity value to their home. We added a mini split for heating and AC, and a fireplace bar.

The Process

We met with the clients, proposed the new space as a three season room with a larger laundry/mudroom. When we measured the space, the homeowners wanted information to make the space comfortable to use all four seasons. We designed the space to accommodate their wishes and proposed the space with vaulted ceilings , skylights and some transom windows to allow for as much natural light as possible. We met with the clients, revised the drawings and developed a plan to make the space their ultimate entertaining area yet cozy for everyday enjoyment. The selection process consisted of three meetings to determine the exact choices that met with their vision. The three sided fireplace bar was a design challenge. We had to make sure the unit we used was capable of being installed low enough to have a countertop installed low enough to use as a bar (when not in use of course). We finalized the fireplace bar during the build phase to keep the project moving forward and updated the construction documents as needed to do so. We finalized the build with new sod on the exterior with new patio stones which gave the space the finishing touches to entertain in immediately. The homeowners absolutely love their new space and how it all reflects their initial vision.
