Freedom In a New Screen Porch Makeover Design

This type of project was a first for us. Not a screen porch, but rather a screen porch for goat watching. Yup, that’s right… goats! You probably didn’t even know that on the outskirts of the city, sits a beautiful piece of land with lots of sweet goats and a llama. With a full farm life mixed in with the daily grind, having a space to relax where the goats couldn’t get in was a must have. The existing deck was becoming cramped, not large enough to truly entertain and have a place to keep the llama, goats, and stray chickens (droppings) away. Our design team, working with the architect, used stunning architectural lines to create an incredible focal point in the roofline. As a result, creating a large open concept feel, while not obstructing the views of the farm.

We incorporated a couple of unique features in this design. There are multiple landings with this exterior living space. Coming directly off the homes main living room, is the first tier of the deck. It’s a perfect space for grilling out. Just a few short steps down, is the second deck landing tier. This was an ideal spot for swinging on the hammock. We wanted to have some areas that were still open to the farm to be able to get the whole family to hang out together. Just imagine getting to swing in a hammock with your favorite “kid”. The final exterior living space we created is the screen porch. Our design team knew that sitting down to enjoy a meal was going to be the main purpose, but it’s large enough to entertain and lounge around a comfortable couch seating area as well.
