Low Maintenance Deck for Outdoor Entertaining with a Water View

Exterior living space is a high priority in North Carolina. Even more so, when you live by the water. We were contacted by the homeowner’s who wanted to replace their existing deck. Their busy lifestyles meant that they needed something with very low maintenance. They had an incredible view of the large pond nestled in their community. One of the design features that was really important to incorporate a shaded area. Sitting in the direct heat can be brutal in the summer time. We opted for a gazebo porch roof that was attached the house to help keep cool for the main sitting area.

For the new design we enlarged the original decks square footage, giving us multiple seating arrangements. We installed not one, but two fire features. Because what goes better with water than fire! In order to keep with the low maintenance theme, our design team used a Zuri decking product, that is a composite material with a 25 year scratch & color warranty. Adding to the low maintenance concept, we installed a stainless cable railing system. A few other key design features were the gas lamps, no more light bulbs to replace; the ipe roof for the gazebo roof, and the LED lighted steps.
