Traditional 1970s Ranch Gets a Fresh Start

Traditional 1970s Ranch Gets a Fresh Start

We updated the kitchen, family room, and dining room.

We removed an old fireplace that closed the kitchen off from the family room. This opened the space up, allowing this retired couple the ease of entertaining guests while preparing meals.

We removed the dated paneling and beams from the family room.

In the kitchen we replaced their oak cabinets with white painted Shaker wood cabinets that brighten the whole space. The cabinets have glass doors and are backlit to display favorite family cookware. We transformed the countertops from laminate to a beautiful and durable granite.

By installing an eat-at counter we were able to utilize the breakfast nook area for the fridge and pantry. We also added a wine bar.

This drastically increased their work space and helped the flow of the kitchen.

As part of an adaptive design, we also added many aging in place features to help this couple in the coming years.
