Master Bathroom Remodel to Relax and Unwind

The homeowner’s were looking to upgrade a few spaces in their historic home. This master bathroom remodel was first on the list. Reaching out to us, through a friends referral was the easy part. They wanted to remodel their existing master bathroom, to bring it up to a more contemporary practical use. Easy enough, the tricky part was still maintaining the historic features of the home. A bathroom can be many things. For them, it needed to be a place to relax – a space where one can unwind, rinse away the stresses of the day.

Style: Transitional

The Process

Our inspiration for this bathroom remodel – the historic original bathroom door casing. The homeowner’s knew that they wanted to redo their existing bathtub & shower combo into a larger walk-in shower. That was about it… With our design team’s help, we were able to come up with a design to remodel that bath to a larger shower, we added a small curb for water drainage. We integrated the use of dual shower heads and frame-less shower glass. This really opened up the space, creating a more spa-like feel. By incorporating the decorative tile in a band and the back side of the niche, sharing the attention of the historic door trim.

We love the results from this design!

A great nod to the historic home to include the trim color in the accent tile, but also the tile on the shower floor. A traditional home would have had a penny tile. You’ve seen them. The round white tiles, about the size of a penny… hence the name. This basketweave black and white tile was a beautiful transition from classic to contemporary with an elongated subway tile for the shower walls.
