Complete Kitchen Transformation
When the kitchen is the heart of the home, it’s important that it functions for the whole family. Now that the kids were getting bigger, this layout was no longer working for this family. It felt very closed in and was hard to have more than one person in the space. For this kitchen transformation, our designer used a new layout. By eliminating the “L-shape” and opting for a larger island. She was able to create a new path flow for easier access. But, it also creates an extra area for seating. A great spot to have early morning breakfast before the school bus. Or even plop down for homework at the end of the day.

The Process
We were able to make the island a multi-functional space. It houses a few different things, the sink, the dishwasher, the pull-out trash can, as well as, it has enough seating for 4 stools. A few other fun features for this space include the glass front doors near the fridge, we replaced the butler pantry with true pantry tall cabinets with roll-out trays. We also have roll-out trays in all of the door cabinets for easy reach. Part of our design process is to include 3D renderings as a “representation” of what the new space will look like. Seen here from the “before” “3D” to the plan views from above, the space really opens up to a much more functional space.
