Garage Renovation into a
New Apartment in Hope Valley Green
Home Away from Home
For this garage renovation project, we were contacted by the homeowner’s for a wonderful occasion. Grandma was movin’ in! As is the case with most families blending together, there is a lot of stuff. After careful thought on where it was all going to go, the garage was the best option. But, with that concept came another great idea. Why not build a “tiny house” for the grandchildren to be able to visit! Our design team was inspired and came up with a few different options.

The Process
Some exciting challenges for designing a garage renovation, as you might have guessed … is the amount of square footage in a small space. We still wanted to be sure that we included all of the necessary amenities. Such as, we knew we needed a kitchen, a living room, a bedroom, a bathroom, and a laundry space. We achieved all of these spaces and more! We included nice size closets and a front porch that was covered perfect for sitting. A request that was crucial for grandma was to be sure that we incorporated a back deck, and connect to the main house’s deck. This would allow for easy access between the two spaces.
As you can see our final result was an amazing use of such a small space. We included seating at the island for extra dining room, a large living room with french doors out to the backyard. Giving the space lots of natural light. We are really excited about the results and can’t wait for grandma to move in and start making this tiny house her home.
