Accessible ADA Master Retreat

The man – the myth – the legend. We were contacted by a family who received devastating news that would drastically change their family dynamic forever. Diagnosed with ALS the family made the decision to stay in their home for as long as possible. Therefore, we were hired to convert their  carport into an ADA accessible living space.

Our design team added a large amount of square footage, to include a new ADA entry. The foyer is now complete with an office, a laundry space, a widened entry to the kitchen area, and a new master bedroom with an on-suite zero-entry shower master bathroom. Lastly, included in this project was an exterior deck off the master bedroom. Being able to physically be apart of the family’s day to day events, for as long as possible, was extremely important. That meant that our design had to be as easily accessible to all parts of the house both interior and exterior.

We added a lot of space to this home. A first floor ADA accessible master suite. It had easy accessibility to the kitchen for family meals, a quick get away to the outside to watch the kids play in the backyard. Most importantly it provided the comfort of knowing that time couldn’t be cherished for a little bit longer together. We truly enjoyed collaborating with the homeowners on this design.
