A Kitchen Revamp Full of Thoughtful Cabinet Inserts
As a newly-wed couple, taking on a home renovation project of this size was no small feat; yet they were up for the challenges. We were contacted to help with a kitchen revamp. The home was built in 1977. This home was prime for a remodel. The current kitchen lacked all the bells and whistles of a 2018 kitchen. We were able to re-use the existing layout and add to it’s function with thoughtful cabinet inserts.
Bearing in mind we are keeping the same layout, that kitchen sink was tough to design as they no longer make them that way. We replaced the sink and set it on the angle as it was before, but made the countertops match the same angle. It provided a smoother transition and accessibility. The couple could now entertain guests while cleaning up from festivities.
A few of those thoughtful cabinet inserts we incorporated into our design, were using a were a half-moon revolving sliding lazy Susan in the corner cabinet. We used a gas assist mechanism in the upper cabinets for easy reach and a double trashcan pull out right next to the sink. The tall pantry cabinet came full with roll-out trays, even the sink base cabinet had tip-out trays for keeping a ring safe or sponges off the counter. No cabinet was left without a bit of flair, it was all about the details.
Through simple design touches and their impeccable taste, our clients were able to make this house a home.
