Bathroom Shower Niche Design

By definition, a niche, is a hollow space in a wall.

In the first step of our design phase, we focus on getting a good sense for what your project will look like. We will ask a lot of questions and have resources for you to review in order help us answer those questions. Typically, when we remodel a bathroom, we offer a few ideas to maximize storage space. An the idea of more shower storage is using a niche. It is gaining in popularity and can be seen in nearly all of our designs. It’s purpose? To hold the many things that gather in our showers, like shampoo bottles & razors etc. but out of the way and not constantly getting wet.

  • We design them to fit your style and needs. Have a lot of product? Not to worry – use the niche length wise and create the extra space needed horizontally on the shelf.
  • We have even used them in the lower section of the shower, as a “shaving niche” to store your razors and prop your foot on. How clever!
  • We custom build our shower niches, so the size of your shower products are never a problem. To keep the lines clean and crisp, we use Schluter strips in matching finishes to your plumbing fixtures.

As seen in the photos putting a fun tile in the shower in a band pattern and complimenting the niche with the same accent tile, is a great way to tie the the space together. For this particular project, we chose an accent tile to match the century old door casing trim. See more photos of the entire bathroom update.
