Kitchen Renovation Swap in Lyon ParkNothing was off limits for this kitchen renovation project! It isn’t every day that we get the opportunity to work on a home with no limits. This home had a dream garden with a huge exterior living space, but the kitchen felt cramped. We knew that we needed more storage space and countertop work surface. At the very least we wanted to make a bigger window to see the outside. We designed the space to be swapped with the existing dining space. A Kitchen Renovation Swap! How exciting.New Design Layout Ideas AheadFor the design in the kitchen, we wanted to keep the space open. But, we also had to include seating options. We eliminated the “formal” dining room. However, the kids needed a place to sit for homework and projects. Our expert designer used an island to substitute the now missing dining table. The new layout created even more storage. We have an “L-shape” kitchen, with a large island with 3 seats, also adding a pantry closet for even more storage.Existing Kitchen PlansFinal Kitchen Plan Another exciting feature that we want to make sure we include, is the new windows and the door to the deck and backyard. The kitchen renovation swap with the dining room now allows for the kitchen to look right out to the garden. Tucked away in the back corner of the yard was the kids tree-house. We absolutely love that the new kitchen will bring a new kind of joy both inside and out with a new view to bring both their worlds together. Before Cramped KitchenMuch Brighter Kitchen “Kitchens should be designed around what’s truly important – fun, food, and life” – Daniel BouludWe agree Daniel, this design is perfect for all of the things truly important. We loved being able to collaborate together on this project and really explore all the possibilities to maximize the space. We included a complete cabinet layout modification from the original floor plan. There were framing changes made to the walls, to allow for a more open concept throughout the entire space, including the new bathroom area. We used new recessed cans throughout the space and updated the outlets along the countertop surfaces as necessary. This kitchen included a level 2 granite countertop and a porcelain tile backsplash. A few key features and inserts pushed these cabinets into the semi-custom level.
